DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Department of English
Language is the key to understanding the world, and English plays a vital role in shaping one’s personality and career. I warmly welcome you to the Department of English at Bhausaheb Lahane Dnyanprakash Arts College, Pinjar (B.L.D. Arts College, Pinjar), located in the rural heartland of Akola District.
English is not just a subject—it is a bridge that connects people, cultures, and ideas across the globe. The study of English helps students develop communication skills, critical thinking, creativity, and confidence. Our department strives to make students proficient in language and literature so they can express themselves effectively in academic, professional, and social spheres.
The Department of English has been a part of the college since its establishment in 1995. Currently, I, Dr. Ramkrushna Namdeorao Gawande, am working as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department. I have completed my Ph.D. in English, and I am dedicated to guiding students in understanding and appreciating the richness of English language and literature.
In the initial years, only a few students opted for English as a major subject. However, through continuous efforts to make the subject engaging and relevant, many students now choose English as a core or elective subject at the degree level.
The department encourages students to participate in various literary and language-based activities such as debates, essay writing, poetry recitation, drama, and seminars. We also emphasize outcome-based education and focus on improving the linguistic competence of students, particularly those from rural backgrounds.
Our aim is to nurture confident communicators, critical thinkers, and creative individuals who can use English as a powerful tool for personal, academic, and professional growth.
Thank You
— Dr. Ramkrushna Namdeorao Gawande
